Senior Leader’s Workshop
One of the shocking findings from our research was that happiness with the boss does not mean high levels of engagement in the team.
Logically, we would expect the two to correlate but they didn’t. The research showed that if we blithely assume the team is on board, because they are not complaining about their boss, we might be assuming too much.
We also know that engaged employees are more productive. The production level is different because of their identification with the goals of the organisation, their accountability and their pro-active attitude to innovation.
There are lots of good ideas inside the heads of employees, but they never surface because there is no effective mechanism to lure those ideas out. Ideally, our Middle Managers should be gathering the best ideas from their work teams, so that the organization can win in the marketplace. For a variety of reasons, they rarely bother to do that though, so we can’t rely on them alone.
The team members have insight, but they don’t feel fired up enough to do anything with that insight.
What a waste!
That means there is a lot of money being left on the table as a result.
As leaders we can always do better to maximize the full potential of our total team. The easiest way to do that is to go to the source and get them to want to do it. Here is the good news - they will if they are motivated.
They need to be engaged to be motivated, so we need to go back to the basics of what really drives employee engagement in the first place. In this workshop we go deep, pulling back the velvet curtain and bringing up the spotlights to reveal the emotional drivers, the key triggers for success.
This is about more than good intentions.
Good intentions on the part of the team is admirable, but you can’t bank “admirable”.
We need to translate the brainpower and energy of the group into results – tangible results.
